Security Flaw Revealed in Google Phone

Just days after the T-Mobile G1 smartphone went on the market, a group of security researchers have found what they call a serious flaw in the Android software from Google that runs it.

One of the researchers, Charles A. Miller, notified Google of the flaw this week and said he was publicizing it now because he believed that cellphone users were not generally aware that increasingly sophisticated smartphones faced the same threats that plague Internet-connected personal computers.

He said the flaw could be exploited by an attacker who might trick a G1 user into visiting a booby-trapped Web site. Read more »

T-Mobile Launch the G1 Phone

T-Mobile USA made the formal, nationwide launch of its G1, the first phone to run Google’s Android operating system.

The T-Mobile G1 features a full QWERTY keyboard, touch screen, 3G support, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity. The Google Android operating system offers good integration with Google applications including Gmail, Google Maps, and Google Calendar as well as access to the Amazon MP3 Store and YouTube. As more applications become available, the G1 will also become a more powerful smartphone for all types of users.
